Description

Coffee Brown Ombré #5.8 is a low-contrast, two-tone shade: a deep espresso-brown root that softens into a lighter, warmer medium brown through the lower third. On the American ring it is written T2/6, where T marks an ombré, 2 is the root shade and 6 the ends. Supplied as 20 tapes per pack in eight lengths from 14" to 28".

How an ombré tape-in is different to install

A single-shade set can be sectioned anywhere. An ombré set cannot. The transition point is fixed in the hair, so every tape has to sit at the same height for the melt to line up across the head. Tapes placed higher push the transition into the mid-lengths; tapes placed lower drop it toward the ends.

T2/6 is more forgiving than a brown-to-blonde ombré because the two shades are close in depth. A small misalignment reads as natural variation rather than a hard colour break. Aligned placement still matters: it is what keeps the lighter brown framing the face evenly instead of appearing in patches. We recommend having ombré sets fitted rather than applied at home.

The transition also moves with length. On a 14" set the lighter brown begins much higher relative to the face than on a 28" set. Confirm at the consultation which length puts the melt where you want it.

Who this shade matches

#5.8 suits natural dark brown hair at level 2 to 4, including hair that already has soft sun-kissed or babylight ends. It is also a fit for anyone who wants brighter, lifted ends without lightening their own hair: the gradient is built into the extension, so nothing on your head needs to be processed.

If your own hair is already lighter than a level 5, a single-shade brown or a higher-contrast ombré will blend better. Bring a photo of your hair in daylight to the consultation.

Wear and care

Move-ups at 6 to 8 weeks, heat under 450 °F (230 °C) with a protectant.

  • Root section: sulphate-free shampoo only; it needs nothing else.
  • Lightened ends: brown hair that has been lifted tends to warm toward copper over time. A blue-toned shampoo every third or fourth wash keeps the ends neutral, and a deep conditioning mask once a month keeps them soft.
  • Conditioner: concentrate it on the lower half, keeping well clear of the tape tabs.

Questions about Coffee Brown Ombré #5.8

Where does the colour change begin?

It varies by length. Ask at the consultation before choosing your length, since the length determines where the melt falls against your face.

Will it look like an obvious ombré?

No. With only four levels between root and ends, T2/6 reads as natural dimension, closer to sun-lightened ends than to a two-colour look.

Can I get the ombré in a different combination?

Custom melts are possible. Contact the studio for lead time.

Does the ombré fade unevenly?

The lightened ends may turn warmer before the root changes. Refresh the ends with a gloss and leave the root section alone.
