Who this shade matches
#6 does two jobs. It matches naturally light brown hair at level 5 to 7 that has never been lifted and shows warmth in sunlight. It also works as the root and shadow shade beneath a warm blonde install, where a full brunette base would be too heavy a contrast.
It is the natural choice for grown-out warm balayage. Where regrowth sits around level 6 and the ends are a golden or butter blonde, #6 through the top section keeps the transition believable instead of putting bright hair straight against a dark root. It pairs best with Butter Blonde #7.11 (US #16) and Golden Platinum #12.1 (US #613), which share its warm reflect.
Check the neighbouring shades before ordering:
- If your brown is deeper, Chestnut Brown #5 (US #6) has the same chestnut reflect one level darker.
- If your hair turns golden rather than red-brown in sunlight, Honey Brown #5.9 (US #10) has a gold reflect instead.
- If your hair reads as dark blonde, Beige Blonde #6.10 (US #12) is the next step up and neutral in tone.
Wear and care
Move-ups at 6 to 8 weeks, heat under 450 °F (230 °C) with a protectant.
- Toning: none needed. The chestnut reflect is the hair's own pigment, so there is no deposited tone to fade. Skip violet or blue shampoo, which mutes the warmth.
- If the colour looks dull: mineral build-up from water is the usual cause; a clarifying wash restores the shine.
- Conditioner and oils: mid-lengths and ends only, well clear of the tape tabs.
Questions about Light Chestnut Brown #6
Is #6 a brown or a dark blonde?
A brown, at the lightest end of the brown range. Beige Blonde #6.10 (US #12) is the first step into blonde.
Why does Violet Beauty #6 match US #8?
European and American colour rings number brown shades differently. Our #6 matches US #8 Light Chestnut Brown; US #6 corresponds to our Chestnut Brown #5.
Is light chestnut a warm or cool brown?
Warm. The reflect is a soft red-gold that shows mainly in daylight, without reading as auburn.
Can #6 be lifted to blonde later?
We do not recommend it. Lightening extension hair removes the virgin condition you paid for. Order the blonde shade you want instead.
